The GRE Analytical Writing section covers your ability to communicate clearly via the written word. You will need to show that you can clearly present your perspective on a specific issue and logically analyze an argument.
The first essay will require you to write on an issue. You will have 45-minutes to compose a well written and planned essay. The second essay will require you to analyze an argument and critique it. You will have 30-minutes to write this response.
The topic will be chosen for you and will not require any specialized knowledge to complete. The essay will be judged on:
the organization and express of your ideas
your consideration for the complexities of the issue
grammar, spelling, and punctuation
the support you can provide for your ideas in the form of reasoning and examples
