The MCAT consists of 3 multiple-choice sections and a writing assesment. It is used by medical schools to determine whether a candidate would be ready to succeed in medical school.
Since the beginning of 2007, all administrations of the MCAT have been computer-based. The computer based testing will continue in the future.
The computerized MCAT is offered on 19 different testing dates through the Prometric testing centers. The MCAT is about 5 hours in length so you may take it either in the morning or in the afternoon depending on the date you select.
Early registration of the MCAT is encouraged as test dates tend to fill up, especially those later in the year. The deadline to apply is 14 calendar days before the scheduled test date. You will be able to choose from hundreds of locations around the globe. It is possible to change your test date and test location at any time as long as space is available. All changes must be made prior to the regular registration deadline and additional fees will apply.
