The SAT Reasoning test is usually accepted by most colleges and universities for meeting the requirement of admission test scores. Some colleges and universities also require SAT Subject test scores as well. You will need to find out what the schools you plan to appy to require. In addition to the SAT test, you may also choose to take the ACT test. One or the other is often enough to meet the admissions test requirements.
SAT Reasoning Test sections
The SAT Reasoning Test consists of the Critical Reading, Writing and Mathematics sections. There is also an additional 25-minute unscored section. This section is used to gauge the fairness of new questions. It will be either a critical reading, writing, or mathematics section and will not be labeled as the unscored section (therefore, you need to complete each section on the exam as though it is scored).
