The Writing Section of the SAT is a 60 minute test. This is a required section of the SAT Reasoning Test. You will need to answer multiple-choice questions as well as write a short essay in order to complete this section.
The multiple-choice questions relate to improving sentences and paragraphs and identifying errors. You will be presented with sentence flow and sentence correction type questions. These questions will test your knowledge of proper word usage, diction, grammar, subject-verb agreement, and wordiness. The 3 main types of questions include; identifying sentence errors, improving sentences, and improving paragraphs.
In the essay portion, you will be asked to write a short essay on a specific issue and support your ideas. The essay question will deal with your point of view on a particular topic. You don't need to be an expert on the topic, but you do need to know how to write an essay and express your thoughts. You will also need to provide evidence to support your point of view.
